The thing to do is just push through it, by whatever means possible. I’ve gone so far as to write a first draft in crayon on shreds of paper garbage bags, just to tell my inner critic “Hey, this is _supposed_ to be mostly wrong, so lighten up!”

I’m finding butcher paper (cheap, big) and post it notes (cheap, movable) the best right now. Mind maps also help if there is more structure to the idea.
